THESE PHOTOS ARE from a relaxed visit (with the exception of climbing 768 steps) to the world’s tallest church in Ulm. We climbed up into the highest spire, which sits at a grand 143 meters high and offers a panoramic view of the city against the Alps. Looking out from the top was wondrous and beautiful; and though walking the final stairwell to get there – a tall, spiraling staircase with barely enough room for an average-sized person – was quite dizzying, I felt inspired once we had made it to the top; we had just climbed the same stairwell that a bell-ringer probably walked every day, hundreds of years ago.
