POSTCARDS FROM JOKULSARLON

WHEN YOU HEAR the word beach, the word ice doesn’t usually come to mind – the exception, of course, is if you hear it in Iceland.

After traveling across miles of green expanses and moss-covered lava rocks, we reached the icy beaches of Jökulsárlón in Southeast Iceland. Often refered to as Diamond Beach, this place is a true Icelandic jewel and an amazing sight to see in midsummer. Christoph and I spent as much time here as we could before the sun went down – picking up huge chunks of ice and tossing them into the sea like children.
